No-download online photo editor

Let’s face it—sometimes we need to edit our photos for various reasons. Maybe the photo is too dark, or you want to add some color filters, or crop out a distracting background. Luckily, there are many free online tools that can do this and more! Here are some of my favorite no-download online photo editors:

Create a new project on Canva.com

Canva is a web-based design tool that can be used for many purposes, not just photo editing. However, it has several great filters you can apply to your photos without uploading them! To access the photo filters in Canva, click on “Edit” at the top of your screen and select “Use Photo”. Upload your photo (or you can drag one onto the canvas) and you will see seven different effects to choose from under “Photo Effects”. They are all labeled clearly, so it’s easy to find what you want. You can also edit your image by uploading custom shapes or choosing text/fonts options. Many times, basic photo editing is all I need, but when I need something more advanced (such as graphics/visualizations or illustrations), I like to use Piktochart.

Piktochart is a web-based infographic design tool with some great photo editing tools. To access the photo filters, click on “Visualize” at the top of your screen and then select “Photo Editor”.

Add photos to the project through this screen.

You can add your own photos or use ones from a stock photo website such as Shutterstock.

Click on the photo effect you want to apply and it will appear in the visual editor.

These tools are very easy to use! Once you have finished editing, save your infographic and you’ll be able to download it as a PDF.

Piktochart is a fun, free program for creating infographics.

It has many options to choose from when editing your images! I highly recommend it if you need to make an infographic for school or work. Fotor is another web-based photo editor with cool features such as add text/stickers, collages, etc. It also has a cool blur tool, which I find useful sometimes!

Fotor is great for adding text to your photos or making collages!

Pixlr is a very high-quality photo editor. This is my favorite site for more advanced photo editing, such as applying filters/effects and special text. Pixlr has several options, including “Express”, “Fancy” (professional), and “Collage”. There are also many tools for graphic design within the Fancy editor, such as layers and shapes.

I personally use this website all the time and it definitely requires an account to download any edited images. I would recommend this tool if you want access to the full range of features.

Pixlr has many advanced photo editing options!

It easily lets you add effects, text, and more to your photos.

You can create a free account with Pixlr, but advanced features require a paid subscription.

PicMonkey is a great website for very simple photo editing tasks such as cropping and color filters. I don’t use this tool often because it doesn’t have many advanced features, but sometimes I like to upload an image and add text or crop it in this program!

This is one of the easiest tools I’ve used when creating simple edits (cropping, adjusting lighting). It’s also great if you want to make collages!

Overall, there are many options out there when it comes to photo editing online!
